I've gotten rid of both Slashdot and digg and generally unsubscribed from every hype source that gets updated a thousand times per day.
As a result, I now close my aggregator with no unread item. I no longer feel like I'm way behind my duties... And not wading through all this junk leaves me with more time for unanswered emails and unblogged posts hm! should.
