Around Ulricehamn is a vast network of cycle tracks, some perfectly asphalted, on which bikes and roller-skates alike can have a lot of fun. Yet no one cared to put anything on the web, so here's from my experience.

After travelling throughout Europe for weeks, I've arrived in Montréal for three weeks. Some hiking, biking, skating, shopping, and of course eating, not even mentionning swimming and relaxing is going on under the very hot sun --luckily summer hangs around a little longer here this fall...

Crossing Sweden on skates went all right, it took even less than I thought it would, and then we visited Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and right now I'm in Berlin, where I always feel like staying... Remember: want what you have and trust your luck. Always!

Only two more days on the road and I'll be flying.

This old E4 really boosts my progression. I wanted to stop but the good speed and poor camp sites drove me onwards, so after considering one night of warring against giant ants, I did the final stretch to Norrköping.

Reached Linköping where the bike network is very impressive: it simply doubles every road in town... Bought a 30 crown pizza, which tasted much better than I expected for that price.

Couldn't sleep last night. Too bad! I had paid for the bed and the roof, yet all I could do through the dark hours was toss and turn in the soft and warm bed. Seems I need rough and hard ground now... Or was it a full moon? At least, my clothes are clean and decent-looking again.

The road to Ryd was ok, but the one I thought to take afterwards is nothing but dirt and rock. Why is it indicated on my maps? Now I can't avoid the highway unless I go hundreds of kms South.

Why do I always in very low-ceilinged cabins or huts? Even when I sleep outside my tent cloth always hangs low, bending me at nights after days of being bent by the bags...

Despite the repellent and having only my nose out of the sleeping bag, those damn bugs kept buzzing in my ears like a highway. Still, sleeping by a lake isn't the best way to avoid them!

Yesterday, after studying the map for a while I went to the tourist information and I swear had the most wonderfull surprise of the whole trip: a green way! From Borås to Ulricehamn, then on various roads I should enjoy perfect asphalt for something close to 200kms.

Left early, had good road conditions and reached Borås today at 12.
Just had pizza instead of the pasta I'd have chosen if they had had any, then walked out and saw that just round the corner I could have got some. But don't regret! Ate slowly, yet at the end I really wasn't hungry anymore despite the paper-thin dough. Seems that my squirrel-like diet has diminished my appetite! Even despite the energy spent in propulsion...

Today was very hard -already! I realised that I had circled around Furulund last night, not good for the optimism, then a shower drenched all and I had to pack my skates after only half an hour on the way. No hope of going fast and far today then.

Just a few minutes ago, another skater turned to say something about the slope we were on. Sensing my incomprehension, he went on: "You understand English, don't you?" -Why of course, funny boy, when it's proper English!
Why did I think that? Because he said: "Nice heels up here!"
